| Breaking NewsWildfires Continue to Burn and Spread in Northern New MexicoAired May 11, 2000 - 8:25 a.m. ETTHIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED. CAROL LIN, CNN ANCHOR: Those photos capture some of the devastation inside the fire lines in those fires burning in New Mexico; one of the largest in the area of Los Alamos, where some 18,000 residents have been evacuated. At least 600 firefighters, helped by National Guardsmen, are fighting those blazes and trying to evacuate more people. One hundred homes so far have been destroyed, but fortunately, no one yet has been injured. The governor, as well as President Clinton, have declared a state of emergency in that area, allowing some federal resources to come in and help those people.
