Gunman Takes Children Hostage in Luxembourg

LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: CNN continues to closely follow a developing story in eastern Belgium -- eastern Luxembourg in a town called Wasserbillig, a school in Wasserbillig, a hostage situation.

And CNN Brussels bureau chief Patricia Kelly files the latest developments there.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

PATRICIA KELLY, CNN BRUSSELS BUREAU CHIEF: Four hours ago, an unidentified man armed with a hand grenade, a handgun and a knife took 20 children between the ages of about 4 and 7 hostage, plus two teachers. This is at a school in a small Luxembourg village, about 15 minutes drive from the Luxembourg city center.

WATERS: One police official near the school has told reporters that the man inside with the children is known for mental problems. He has asked to see a psychiatrist but has made no other demands.
