BRIAN NELSON, CNN ANCHOR: And Victory 2000, that's the Bush- Cheney campaign train that's been rolling through Illinois today, and at this hour the Republican candidates are in Springfield, Illinois. In 1996, the Clinton-Gore ticket took Illinois, and so Governor Bush is hoping to change some minds there.

Let's listen in.

(JOINED IN PROGRESS)

GOV. GEORGE W. BUSH (R-TX), PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE: Speaking about marrying well, I did a pretty good job myself.

See, I think you can judge the nature of a man by the company he keeps. I always knew I was keeping good company, but last Monday night America got to see I was keeping good company. What a fabulous first lady she'll be.

NELSON: Governor George W. Bush on the latest stop on his whistle campaign tour through this time Illinois, and he's speaking in Springfield, Illinois.
