THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.
LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: We are going to go to London. A political demonstration under way in London. And CNN's Richard Blystone is on the line to tell us about it.
What is going on, Richard?
RICHARD BLYSTONE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Lou, I am standing in the middle of a demonstration by about 50 or 60 people on the banks of the River Thames. Contrary to previous reports, they say they are Turks and not Kurds, as was before reported earlier. In the Millennium Wheel, the London Eye, which is towering right overhead of us, all lit up for Christmas.
There are reported to be between 18 and 22 people who stormed over about 3 3/4 hours ago. In two of the pods, we are told, the policemen said that one group is at the top, the other one is at the bottom. In communication with each other by mobile telephone, and what they are saying to the police, the police are not saying -- Lou.
WATERS: So, we don't know what their problem is?
BLYSTONE: No, there's a sign right in front of me in which says "Stop the massacre of political prisoners in Turkey." That is what it's about.
But as to what happened, about 3 3/4 hours ago, these people took over two of the couple of dozen pods. About the tallest thing in London, and police got everybody out safely, and they are now just determined to wait it out -- Lou.
WATERS: All right, Richard, we will get back to you, perhaps when we can hear you a little bit better. But we do know a do know a political protest is under way in London. We will continue to follow the story and bring you more details as soon as we know more, it's pretty sketchy at this time.
