LOU WATERS, CNN ANCHOR: We are getting a report that USF-16 war planes attacked a radar at an airport in southern Iraq today, in the second such raid against Baghdad's air defenses this week.

Defense officials are tell "Reuters" news service that it's all part of a continuing attempt to degrade Iraq's capability to shoot down U.S. and British war planes patrolling two no-fly zones in Iraq.

We have reported in that past that this is rather routine business for the allies in that no-fly zone area, but this attack today being reported now by "Reuters" is the second of the week. There was another raid on Tuesday, on a radar site near Basra, which is a military-civilian airfield in that area.

That raid on Tuesday came a day after Iraq said it shot down an unmanned U.S. reconnaissance aircraft over southern Iraq. So, we have more U.S. and British action in the Persian Gulf, and we'll be hearing more about that as the hours wear on here.
