KYRA PHILLIPS, CNN ANCHOR: With the developing tensions between Pakistan and India, we have a bit of breaking news to bring to you right now. We're going to go to our Maria Ressa who is in New Delhi. We understand that India is reporting that it has fired at an unmanned Pakistani spy plane.

Maria, what can you tell us?

MARIA RESSA, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Kyra, Indian Army officials tell CNN that it has indeed fired on a Pakistani UAV, an unmanned aerial vehicle. They said that this was shot down by Indian troops at about 3:00 p.m. local, that's more than five hours ago.

It was in the district of Poonch in Jammu, Kashmir. This is an area where there's been particularly heavy hiring. It's one the flashpoints in that part of the border.

Indian officials claim this plane has been used for spying and it strayed into Indian airspace, into Indian territory and that's the reason it was shot down. Troops have just been sent to look for the wreckage -- Kyra.

PHILLIPS: All right, Maria Ressa, we will continue to follow that story and check in with you as you get more information.
