DARYN KAGAN, CNN ANCHOR: I want to go live now right to Texas, where Attorney General John Ashcroft is speaking, making comments about this latest terror alert.

Let's listen in.

JOHN ASHCROFT, U.S. ATTORNEY GENERAL: ... an alert to 18,000 law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for individuals who may be associated with Osama bin Laden or the Al Qaeda network and who may be planning attacks on U.S. interests.

The alert issued last evening provided identification of 14 individuals whose photos are on the FBI web site, of three individuals, in addition to those 14, for whom no photographs are available, but for whom there is other information provided. Those individuals interested in accessing the web site can do so by www.fbi.gov and that web site information is available.

While this alert is not specific to any particular locality, I want to encourage all law enforcement officials, and, frankly, all Americans everywhere to be on the highest state of alert in regard to these individuals. I encourage individuals to report anything that they consider to be suspicious. To gather more information about these individuals, obviously, visit the FBI web site at www.fbi.gov.

Whenever I come to San Antonio, I like to take time to visit the Alamo.

KAGAN: We've been listening to Attorney General John Ashcroft as he speaks in San Antonio, Texas about this terror alert, not completely specific, but more specific than other terror alerts we've received in the past. And the attorney general urging law enforcement and officials everywhere to be on alert. And for more information, you can see the Web site, at fbi.gov.
