MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: We want to go now to the telephone. CNN's Matthew Chance joining us on the story we began the program with, that is this attack that has taken place in the West Bank, specifically, in Hebron.
Matthew Chance joining us from Ramallah.
What do we know -- Matthew.
MATTHEW CHANCE, CNN CORRESPONDENT: Well, Marty, a few more details trickling down to us here in Ramallah from that divided West Bank city of Hebron. Where Palestinian gunmen or at least one Palestinian gunman, we're told by Israeli officials, has opened fire apparently some kind of Jewish prayer meeting, just outside the divided city of Hebron on the West Bank. Casualties appear to be quite high, according to Israeli defense forces, the Israeli army. They say they've evacuated between 20 and 30 people who have been injured as a result of this shooting. They say that at least six people, at least that's the figure coming to us from media reports, at least six people appear to have been killed -- Martin.
SAVIDGE: Matthew, is this a change of tactics? We saw the attack on the kibbutz, now we see it on the settlement here. Is it a change in the way this is being hand terrorism wise.
CHANCE: I think it's difficult to assess what the tactics are. Certainly, there have been meetings in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, between Fatah, the main Palestinian group headed by Yasser Arafat, and the main Palestinian militant group Hamas. They been discussing the possibility of calling a cease-fire, when it comes to attacks inside Israel proper. No one is talking about stopping attacks in the occupied territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank -- Martin.
SAVIDGE: Matthew Chance live on the telephone reporting on the latest violence from the West Bank. Thank you.
