Helicopter Crashes Near Fallujah

Aired December 9, 2003 - 08:04   ET

THIS IS A RUSH TRANSCRIPT. THIS COPY MAY NOT BE IN ITS FINAL FORM AND MAY BE UPDATED.

BILL HEMMER, CNN ANCHOR: Breaking news from Iraq. Reuters reporting that a U.S. helicopter has crashed near Fallujah, west of Baghdad. Not a whole lot of information right now about what caused that crash or any American casualties that may or may not have been involved. More as we get it here on AMERICAN MORNING.
Earlier today, at least 33 U.S. soldiers injured today in a pair of what appears to be suicide attacks on bases north of Baghdad. Thirty-one hurt when a vehicle blew up, exploding near the main gate of the 101st Airborne Division's base west of Mosul. Also, two U.S. soldiers hurt by an explosion at a base in Ba'qubah, that is northeast of Baghdad. Three Iraqis also killed in northern Iraq after a pair of explosions at a mosque there.

We're working the story on the ground in Baghdad. More when we get it here.
