Four killed in Detroit rampage
Gunman makes hostages recite Lord's PrayerMarch 11, 1997Web posted at: 9:34 p.m. EST (0234 GMT) DETROIT (CNN) -- A lone gunman went on a random shooting spree in Detroit Tuesday morning, killing three people and wounding two others before being shot and killed by police. Detroit police say the incident began when Allen Lane Griffin, 21, approached a man on a city street and shot him in the face, wounded him. He then stole a car and drove to a bank about a block away. The gunman, who was wearing camouflage, entered the bank firing a shotgun. He ordered people inside the bank to lie on the floor and join him in reciting the Lord's prayer as he shot people. Two bank employees were killed and another wounded. After a bank employee tripped an alarm, police say Griffin left the bank, grabbing a hostage on his way out the door. When he killed the hostage, police opened fire, shooting about 200 rounds at him. Reuters contributed to this report. Related sites:Note: Pages will open in a new browser window
