Cpl. Carol Ann Diggs said those who died were part of the 82nd Airborne Division. The UH-60 went down about 2:30 p.m. EDT (1830 GMT) in a wooded training area and burst into flames on impact. A witness reported seeing black smoke raising from the crash site when he arrived on the scene. No live ammunition was on board, according to a public affairs officer at the base. The crash occurred on a firing range at the western end of the base near Fayetteville. The Blackhawk helicopter usually operates with a crew of three and can carry as many as 13 soldiers.
