Versace bullets link gun to other killings
Sales of the designer's clothes rise after his death

MIAMI (CNN) -- A week after Gianni Versace was shot dead at his Miami Beach villa, authorities have linked the murder weapon to two other killings allegedly carried out by Andrew Cunanan, who remains at large.
The bullets that killed architect David Madson in Minnesota and cemetery caretaker William Reese in New Jersey came from the same .40-caliber handgun used in Versace's slaying, the FBI said on Tuesday, citing the results of ballistics tests.
Madson's body was found May 3; Reese's was found six days later.
The FBI confirmed on Tuesday that Cunanan had been in New York City during that time period, saying "recently obtained information" placed him in Manhattan between May 5 and May 8.

Cunanan is also suspected in two other murders: that of Jeffrey Trail in Minnesota, a former Navy officer whom Cunanan considered one of his best friends; and wealthy Chicago developer Lee Miglin. Trail was killed with a claw hammer, Miglin with a gardening tool.
The intense national manhunt for the 27-year-old Cunanan continued Tuesday as investigators fielded hundreds of tips. Authorities have said he may still be in south Florida, perhaps disguised in drag.
While there have been numerous reported sightings, the FBI said none has been verified.
Versace clothing sales jump
In a development apparently tied to the notoriety of Versace's death, there's been increased demand for his clothes. Sales of his suits, dresses and accessories has jumped as customers clamor to get the last items he designed.
"We've seen in the past week that sales have ... between double and tripled every day." said Frank Doroff, executive vice president of Bloomingdale's department store in New York City.
