You be the juror

U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch has spelled out specific guidelines jurors must weigh in considering whether to recommend Terry Nichols receive a sentence of death or life in prison.

Before making a recommendation, the jury must answer a series of questions. Below, you can answer the very questions facing the jury and find out what the implications of your decisions would be.

Questions #1 and #2: INTENT TO CAUSE DEATH

1. The defendant intentionally participated in an act, contemplating that the life of a person(s) would be taken or intending that lethal force would be used against a person(s)... the victim(s) died as a result of that act.

2. The defendant intentionally and specifically engaged in an act of violence, knowing that the act created a grave risk of death to a person(s)... participation in the act constituted a reckless disregard for human life and the victim(s) died as a direct result.
