NEW YORK (CNN) -- Two dogs and a pig were guests of honor at a luncheon Tuesday sponsored by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).

All three animals had heroic tales that took them to New York. For the porcine honoree that meant attending rather than becoming lunch -- -- as CNN's Jeanne Moos explains.
