![]() Disneyland removes violent video gamesMay 15, 1999 ANAHEIM, California (CNN)-- Disneyland said Friday it removed 30 violent video games that simulate human or animal targets from park arcades in late April to maintain its "wholesome, family environment." Disneyland spokesman Ray Gomez said the Littleton, Colorado, school killings April 20 influenced the decision, but removing the games "has been under consideration for some time." "We try to maintain a wholesome, family environment here at Disneyland" he said. "It's not an indictment of the industry -- this is just not the place for violent video games." The violent video games removed were in Tomorrowland and Critterland. But inaminate targets remain in the Frontierland shooting gallery, Gomez said. In Orlando, Florida, staff members at Walt Disney World have been removing violent games over the past two weeks, spokeswoman Diane Ledder said. They were evaluating the content of games at all four theme parks, Downtown Disney and 16 hotels.
