MYSTIC, Connecticut (CNN) -- At the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center, the opossums don't play dead, they are dead.

Along with squirrels, skunks, hawks, owls and other animals flattened on the freeway, they help make up the center's impressive road kill collection.

The menagerie is kept on ice, stored in a refrigerator until being transformed into display specimens by a taxidermist who really knows how to sink his teeth into his work.

Watch this video report for the complete story.
