Judge allows photos of Simpson in gloves

LOS ANGELES (CNN) -- Prosecutors will be allowed to show the O.J. Simpson jury some photographs and videotapes in which it claims Simpson is wearing gloves similar to the ones found by his ex-wife's body and at his house.

Judge Lance Ito said he is allowing the photos because some of them were not available to the prosecution before it rested its case, nor was a report by its glove expert that could be used to interpret the evidence.

Blasier In a hearing outside the jury's presence, defense attorney Robert Blasier accused the prosecution of withholding the evidence in an effort to "sandbag" the defense for dramatic effect at the end of the trial. He said the defense had avoided presenting any evidence during its part of the trial that might have opened the door to the photographs, and said that if the prosecution wanted to show such items it should have done so during its main presentation.

Clarkr Prosecutor Marcia Clark successfully argued they didn't get many of the photographs of Simpson wearing the gloves while broadcasting at football games until after prosecutors had rested their case. She said other photos that been received but had not been checked out.

The jury already has heard evidence that Nicole Brown Simpson bought a pair of the unique gloves like the ones found at the murder scene and Simpson's house.
