UNITED NATIONS (CNN) -- U.N. Secretary-General Boutros
Boutros-Ghali doesn't want another vote on his candidacy for
a second term, he told CNN Thursday.
The Egyptian, who was vetoed by the United States on Tuesday
in a 14-1 Security Council vote, said that he is not
withdrawing his name, but would prefer to wait until other
candidates for the post have surfaced.
The United States said it would support another African for
the position. The three African members of the Security
Council briefed council Thursday morning, but have not
decided on the next steps.
