WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Croatian President Franjo Tudjman was
released from a Washington hospital Thursday morning, but
refused to discuss why he checked into Walter Reed Army
Medical Center last week without telling Croatia's Washington
ambassador.
Instead Tudjman, appearing robust and jovial at a press conference at the Croatian embassy, discussed the first English-language translation of a book he wrote in the 1980's about Croatia's history during World War II.
Sources told CNN the Croatian President was tested for
stomach cancer. Tudjman's office in Zagreb last week issued a
statement saying that he was being tested for a stomach
ulcer.
