NEW YORK (CNN) -- Former United Nations Secretary-General
Boutros Boutros-Ghali has signed a book contract with Random
House worth $500,0000 dollars, CNN has learned.
The book will give Boutros-Ghali's version of the Clinton
Administration's international campaign to block the
secretary-general's re-election. Ghali's book will be
especially critical of Secretary of State-nominee Madeline
Albright, a source familiar with the book proposal told CNN.
As U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Albright
orchestrated the campaign against Boutros-Ghali.
Among the revelations in the book will be descriptions of a
secret meeting between Sen. Jesse Helms and Boutros Ghali,
the source said. The chairman of the Senate Foreign
Relations Committee, Helms is a staunch critic of both the
U.N. and Boutros-Ghali.
Writing the book with Boutros-Ghali will be Yale professor
Charles Hill, who was a long-time advisor to former Secretary
of State George Shultz.
