Balance of power up for grabs

Among the many races on the July 6 ballot, several are being watched closely because of their potential to shift the balance of power away from the ruling Institutional Revolutionary Party.

These include the races for Mexico City mayor, technically governor of the Federal District; the Chamber of Deputies, or lower legislative house; and six gubernatorial offices.
