NEW DELHI, India (CNN) -- Thousands of visitors flocked to this year's mango festival in the Indian capital, where mango-lovers could chose from 500 varieties of the delicious exotic fruit.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of this annual event, which lasts three days and this year includes folk songs celebrating the mango fruit, a mango eating competition, a quiz for children and a game show.

India is the world's largest mango-growing country, providing about 60 percent of the total world production. But even though prices for mangos have risen sharply this year due to unseasonable rain in India, the festival still offered cheaper than average prices for those who wanted to buy the fruit.

CNN's New Delhi Bureau Chief Anita Pratap has more from the festival.
