SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- A pair of rare tiger cubs are stealing the show at South Korea's Everland Zoo.
Six-month-old white tigers Julu and Julie peeked out of their enclosure at gawking zoo visitors in their first public appearance on Wednesday.
White tigers, first discovered in the wilds of India, are an endangered species. They typically have chocolate or black stripes and green or blue eyes. The Everland Zoo has launched a breeding program to protect the tigers and other species.
"We wanted to permanently preserve this rare breed," said animal keeper Lee Byeong Cheol.
Zoo keepers waited to reveal the tiger cubs to the public until now, making sure the cubs were healthy and ready for the media spotlight.
Reuters contributed to this report.
