(CNN) -- NATO airstrikes in Yugoslavia are taking their toll on U.S.-Russian relations, with more Russians expressing dislike for Americans. Some Russians may even be volunteering as mercenaries to aid the Yugoslavs.
"They see air attacks against Serbia as one more example of the unchecked misuse of American power. I am told that our policy only strengthens the hard-liners in Russia," Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vermont), told his Senate colleagues.
An independent survey found that since NATO airstrikes began on March 24, the number of Russians who don't like the United States has risen from 28 percent to 72 percent.
