PRISTINA, Kosovo (CNN) -- Two U.S. soldiers were killed overnight when their armored personnel carrier overturned in the U.S. sector, a U.N. peacekeeping representative told CNN.
The vehicle apparently overturned while on patrol, and the incident appears to have been an accident, with no other vehicles involved and no landmines or explosive devices, the KFOR spokesman said.
The soldiers were taking part in a normal patrol in the U.S. sector. They were part of Bravo company, 9th Engineering Batallion, 1st Infantry Division which is normally based in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Three other soldiers were also injured in the accident, the spokesman said. The deaths are the first fatalities for the U.S. forces in Kosovo.
