Rod Stewart launches album, Web site
Rod Stewart launched his new album "When We Were the New Boys" and his official Web site (www.rodstewartlive.com) at Tower Records' Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles store on June 2. He began the festivities with a two-hour signing session, followed by a free gig in the parking lot. Then he headed on to the Roxy, where he performed a set, and closed the night out with another performance at the famed Whisky. Stewart will be out on the road this summer, starting July 14 and 15 at the Meadows Music Theatre in Hartford, Connecticut, before wrapping up the 37-date North American tour at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA on September 18. Bee Gees tour to mark 30th anniversary
Despite securing their first hit 31 years ago, the brothers Gibb have announced a world tour to celebrate their 30th anniversary. At a news conference in London on June 2, they said they would start their five-date "One Night Only" world tour in Dublin, Ireland on August 29. Subsequent performances: Wembley Stadium, September 5; Pretoria, South Africa, October; Buenos Aires, Argentina, December; and finally Sydney, Australia, at the new Olympic Stadium. The group has never before performed on the continents of Africa or South America. But they have played Sydney before, supporting Chubby Checker there in their first big gig 36 years ago.

Sarah McLachlan previews Lilith Fair
No sooner had songstress Sarah McLachlan finished taping her appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman" June 1 than she was off to Manhattan's Bryant Park for a Lilith Fair preview. An estimated 8,000 people attended the "A Night of Charity and Song" concert, which was held for free in the park. Antigone Rising and Eden White, two winners of the Levi's/Lilith Fair Acoustic Talent Search, also performed.
The performance raised $8,000, plus donations of over 400 pairs of
jeans, for the West End Intergenerational Shelter in New York. The Lilith tour will kick off at the Civic Stadium in Portland, Oregon on June 19, and is scheduled to conclude at the Thunderbird Entertainment Center in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 31.

Benefit concert to fight breast cancer
Celebrity performances and host actor Will Smith are the planned highlights of a breast cancer benefit concert to be held in Anaheim on June 13. Among the performers: Gloria Estefan, Olivia Newton-John, Vonda Shepard of "Ally McBeal" fame, 'N Sync and Amber. All Saints, Meredith Brooks, Mariah Carey, Paula Cole, Hootie & the Blowfish, Tom Jones and Wyclef Jean are all expected to be on hand as well.
Proceeds from the "Wango Tango" benefit, which is being sponsored by a Los Angeles radio station, will go to the Los Angeles Breast Cancer Alliance.

Billy Joel has asthma attack, cancels show
Piano men Billy Joel and Elton John canceled their June 4 show at Old Trafford in Manchester, England, after Joel, who had been suffering from an upper respiratory infection, was stricken with an asthma attack two days earlier at their Ibrox Stadium show in Glasgow, Scotland. In a statement released by Sony Records, Joel said, "I feel terrible about this, not only for my fans but for Elton and his fans as well. To everyone who had planned the Manchester show tonight, I convey my deepest apologies." A record company spokesperson said that the Wembley shows were expected to go ahead.

European leg of Stones tour rescheduled
The postponed European leg of the "Bridges To Babylon" tour has been rescheduled and will now start at the Zeppellinfeldt Stadium in Nuremberg, Germany on June 13. The tour, which had been slated to kick off on May 22, was disrupted after Keith Richards fell from a ladder in the library of his Connecticut home, causing two cracked ribs and severe bruising of the chest.
