    -- President Bill Clinton

It was on this day in 1969 that Georges Pompidou won the French presidency. In a typically grand gesture, the country remembers this great statesman with the Centre Georges Pompidou. It is a museum and arts center in the heart of Paris, but is best known for its appearance. Regardless of the attraction, art or architecture, it is well worth a look.
