SOLUTION TO ISRAEL AND GAZA PROBLEMS
Israel should annex Gaza and give all the people living in Gaza
full Israeli citizenship without conditions.

world traveler   March 1st, 2009 5:48 am ET

yet again CNN puts out a picture so we shoudl have simpathy for the poor palestinian. What they dont tell you is that those houses that are to be demolised where built iligally, without building permits, and that the Israeli Gov offered them new homes elsewhere.

Professor   March 1st, 2009 7:56 am ET

World Traveler,

Yes Yes I agree with you they did not tell you either that the racist Israrlis do not give the Arab citizens building permits... so thats the result of a systematic racist state... don't give them building permit... and they build destroy their homes and use a sorry ass excuse that they were built on an archeological site.

Igor   March 1st, 2009 3:29 pm ET

I do not think that there is anything racist or illegal in municipality decision. If you want to build something, you need permit, this is the law If inhabitants believe, that they are evicted illegally, or that their eviction is discriminatory, they should appeal; in court against municipality decision. i however think that municipality should be more sensible, and should try to reach some agreement with the inhabitants.
Any allegations that somehow Arab Israelis cant get building permits is ridiculous, and I think that even those who claim it, know that this is not true. More than a million of of Israelis are Arabs, and build legally without problems.
As for allegations, that Jews somehow are just religious group, and not people, it is just propaganda, to legitimize Israel, and a new one, also, even among anti-Zionists. Jews are a nation, this was never denied by anyone for 3000 years, and even Arabs until recently did not denied this:
http://www.kinghussein.gov.jo/kabd_eng.html
Here you can read how King Abdullah in 1947, for all his anti-Zionism, he never denied that Jews are a nation, and their ancestors were original inhabitants of Palestine, just American Indians are native inhabitants of America.

Time to stop your whining and crying and slobbering professor and accept the fact there are rules of law that govern civilized societies-- as much as you hate to admit!

What more do these people expect-???? They've been offered compensation. They've been offered homes near by. But they still feel the need to make a big scene because they made a decision in the past to build on land without proper permits!

Do you have these rules in California, professor - Yes-– do you whine and cry about it to the TV and Arnold the Governator–No???

Why not-– after all-– it's discrimination, right?????

Or, for some reason, it's acceptable because it's California- is that it??

Where is your ancestral homeland, professor??

Why are you squatting on land that belongs to the Mexicanos or the Native American???? Since you are an "Occupier", according to you, that makes you a fair target for terrorist resistance forces! Better watch out for the Cartels form Mexico-- they're growing quite powerful and violent-. It's only a matter of time until they decide they want they're land back from the immigrant squatters!

Igor   March 1st, 2009 4:42 pm ET

Read "to delegitimize", instead of "to legitimize", sorry for writing mistake.

Here is for those interested in some real truths I found this good link:

The Zionists later decided on Palestine. The reason for this was Palestine was regarded as "the Jews' historical homeland," rather than for any religious significance it had for them.

****************************************************************
professor,

Yea some real truths!!!!! Just what everyone keeps telling you!!!!

Judea is"the Jews' historical homeland," amazing what you can learn if you actually do some research!!!

Where is your ancestral homeland professor????

When will you decide it's time ti immigrate to your homeland and leave stop the "occupation" of the land your on?

Don't you think the Mexicanos or the Native Americans deserve to have their homeland-– free of occupiers and squatters??

Professor   March 1st, 2009 11:07 pm ET

Igor,

don't worry about typos we all make them... no need for an apology. Tell me is Dr. Jeff Halper, Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions a liar?

Hope   March 2nd, 2009 4:22 am ET

This is yet another form of passive aggression...

Publicly, Israel is good at cheer leading..whether -Archeological site- or is it a -Park- they want to build..what exactly they think they will find now, a 2000 year old toe nail!! Privately, It is all about ethnic cleansing of Palestine. Give the Palestinians their permits, after all (like or not) it's their land. Nice pictures.

GLeigh   March 2nd, 2009 5:04 am ET

My parents got forced from their home, decades ago, by the Highway Department. I had a confrontation with them once before this incident. I won. My insurance company told me no one ever won against them but it was not that big a deal. But they paid my parents something and they got another house, equal value. They were simple, quiet, nice people. I think they actually liked the new house better, to my surprise. They are gone now, but I still can see the land.

GLeigh   March 2nd, 2009 5:09 am ET

To me, these two photos were of opposites. Helping babies is good and noble. I love them, but I've given birth. People who always rebel, always, are another matter. It bothers me. We should think of the future, not our own way allllllll the time perhaps.

GLeigh   March 2nd, 2009 6:35 am ET

The missiles need to stop. The aggression needs to stop. No one feels safe. Is that fair to our future people?????? If you answer yes, I cannot understand you. Period. We need more nukes why? So more subs might bump each other with them somewhere out in the oceans? Or the skies? Or outter space? We've now gone to the moon and Mars.

GLeigh   March 2nd, 2009 6:37 am ET

In a few years, when CERN is going, we might go further. Mankind might catch up with itself. Imagine it. I hope we never go back to goat herding but we could if we blow up something. It's a dangerous world.

Igor   March 2nd, 2009 8:12 am ET

I think Jeff Halper is a man with set political agenda. As in any country, even if you want to build roof extension over house entrance, let alone build whole house you need a permit. I trust Jeff Halper as much I trust any man with set political agenda, he frequently used word "apartheid" to describe Israeli policies and his Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, were criticized by Camera and NGO monitor. Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions also were involved in illegal house buildings itself.
I do not necessarily trust Jerusalem municipality either. If inhabitants think they are treated unlawfully of discriminatory, they must appeal in court, and I will trust it`s decision. As of now, I don`t even know if these people applied for permits, or they simply tried to avoid paying municipality tax.

Professor   March 3rd, 2009 5:45 am ET

Igor,

I agree with you that you would be required to get a building permit anywhere to build a house.... but what about Dr. Jeff Halper claim that the Arabs are denied building permits?.... so what do you expect them to do?... simply migrate to Jordan or Egypt or Syria?

Dave   March 3rd, 2009 7:19 pm ET

This is a subject I know alot about. I used to be a construction worker in Silwan/Cfar Hashiloach. Many of the houses were purchased by Israelis. The PLO, at the time, threatened to kill the sellers (and I believe killed one or two).

Here's my point though; populations move all the time. My family was chased out of Syria on one side and Poland on te other. I have no desire to go back to either place. The Palestinians live, for the most part in Jordan (which was considered Palestine, until King Hussein killed 25,000 Palestians). Why not settle and be at home where you are. If you make peace w Israel, you can live there too. Shave your moustaches and drop the machismo. You lost the wars, now deal with reality.

Professor   March 3rd, 2009 9:10 pm ET

Dave,

I thought you were going to share with us your knowledge about the house demolishing issue... but you just want to tell us that you were chased out of Syria and Poland... why did they chase you out?... where you spying on them or did you commit a crime?

I know there are lot of Jews that live in Peace in Poland and in Syria... why did they single you out?

GLeigh   March 4th, 2009 1:20 am ET

Prof – You twist everything. Like CS. He never said Jewish people killed anyone. Reread his post – you messed it up. CS apologized. I hope you can do the same.

Igor   March 4th, 2009 6:17 am ET

Professor
There are more then a million Israelis who are Arabs, and they build legally and have permits. If indeed , these people were denied building permits because some discriminatory policy, I expect them to appeal to court, and I believe if decision were unlawful, court will order municipality to reverse it. In no way I expect them to immigrate to Jordan or Egypt or Syria. They live in Israel, Israel is just as they homeland, as it homeland of Israeli Jews, and if their rights were denied, Israel must protect these rights as rights of any other Israelis.

Professor   March 5th, 2009 10:23 am ET

Igor,

You can tell me all what you want here... but I am sorry your statements are not well documented as compared to Dr. Jeff Halper's documented facts... so who i am going to believe here?

You might have your own political agenda too.... so don't use that excuse with me to discredit Dr. Halper's work.

Igor   March 5th, 2009 2:51 pm ET

to Professor
What of my statements are not well documented? That more than a million of Israelis are Arabs or that they live in their homes legally with permits. I think that are undeniable facts.

Professor   March 5th, 2009 4:57 pm ET

Igor,

that Arabs do get equal treatments when it comes to getting a building permit. I think my statement is very clear when your comment contradict Dr. Halper's and you cannot backup your statement.... but he backs up his.

professor mentiroso,

So because it is written it is fact!!!!! Or it is fact because it is written by someone who has "Dr." in front of his name??!!!!!

Great logic there professor mentiroso!!!!

We should all think like you-- right!!!!

Igor   March 6th, 2009 7:34 am ET

I think that the fact that more then a million Arab Israelis live in legally constructed houses with permits proves that Arabs have no trouble getting building permits in Israel, more then 88 buildings build without a permit proves that Arabs do have trouble getting permits.

I think the issue of peace in the Middle East should be as fair as possible to every party. I belong to a Yahoo group Salaanm, Shalom Peace in Arabic and Hebrew. The group believes in true dialogue between Palestinians and Israelis. I'm on the email list of "Jewish Voice for Peace" They are pro Israel and peace for everyone involved.
There are some Jewish anti zionist sites of the ultra Orthodox. They believe the promised land will only come once the Messiah returns,
