Great Celebration!!!

Maybe the US should have left a long time ago !!!!

"A car bombing devastated a food market in the city of Kirkuk, killing at least 33 people and wounding 90. The early evening attack, which bore the hallmarks of Sunni extremist groups like al-Qaida in Iraq, was the second in the Kirkuk area since a truck bombing killed 82 people on June 20."

Where are all the "Islam is a peaceful religion" flag wavers ???

Ralph   July 1st, 2009 6:40 pm ET

They can celebrate all the way to the next civil war. The Sunnis want some payback, they used to run the show. Have a nice day.

World travelar   July 1st, 2009 7:19 pm ET

I am also happy we are out of those cities, but what i wait for is when we are out of the country. We should have left that country long ago, now it is going to be much more difficult to not be involved. They are still going to fire morters at our bases, and they are still going to use car bombs on our troops.

miriam   July 2nd, 2009 7:31 pm ET

Filipe,

a) They don't care because Muslim killing Muslim is not what motivates them.

b) They are too scared to take sides in such a "peaceful" dispute.

John A   July 3rd, 2009 10:04 am ET

Funny how all the comments on this blog so far have been made by those who support Israel on the other blog pages.

So what's the logic you try to present? Some Middle East countries are in political turmoil, so who cares about their lives and who cares if Israel is left to murder Palestinians.

Lets just keep pretending all Muslims are radical dangerous people. Then all these Israeli bloggers will feel better about bombing Palestinian children in their sleep.

Do any of these Zionists actually follow their religion or does the Jewish religion request followers to show contempt to Muslims at every possible opportunity.

Filipe   July 3rd, 2009 11:45 am ET

John A,

Why do you always find the need to change the subject of the blog to Israel/Palestine???

Are you so filled with hatred for the Jewish people and Israel that you can't accept the fact that there are actually others in the world who live in the midst of violence perpetrated by religious zealots who teach violence against the non-believers??

Stick to the topic of the blog-– this one is about Iraq !!!

You ask -–"So what’s the logic you try to present? "

Can you not understand my comments ????

miriam   July 3rd, 2009 12:10 pm ET

John A,

What I understand from these blogs is that there are thousands of Muslims being killed by other Muslims and very few in the world trying to reconcile the differences leading to the killings.

Inciting more hatred and spreading more and more untruths will not bring peace and reconciliation.

Nobody mentioned Israel or the Jews.
Are Zionists forbidden to have opinions or the desire to help others in the world?

Jews and Israel are not to blame for every ill in the world and they care not only about the State of Israel but about the lives of all people.

If only others in the world would not display their own prejudices against Jews and presume that Jews think about others the way they themselves think about the Jews.

G.   July 3rd, 2009 5:57 pm ET

A person from the US was kidnapped in Afghanistan. Did a person from Israel kidnap him? I'm pretty patient, in general, with teens and stuff, but that bugged me. It's just one person. But I don't see that from Israel, ever. So I have to ask myself – what does that mean?

John A   July 6th, 2009 9:23 am ET

Miriam and Filipe, your words would gain credibility if you were capable of constructive comments & thoughts.

Irans problems are within Irans boarders, therefore I suggest it would be good to read opinions from people who care about that country.

Instead the only blogs posted here are from Filipe, Miriam and G who have never had a good word to say about Muslims. But you're free to continue in your deluded world of negativity.

Barry   July 6th, 2009 12:01 pm ET

John A -

Boo hoo, can't stick to the subject because you want to try to blame Israel for everything and then blame others for negativity.

The subject of this blog is Iraq for those like you who have no reading comprehension skills. Let's see, who is doing the killing in Iraq – why yes, it's Muslims. Sunni Muslims killing Shia Muslims because our Muslims are better than their Muslims. Shia Muslims killing Sunni Muslims for revenge and under orders from Iran. Various Muslims killing the "occupiers" who happened to free them from a brutal dictator and prevent a civil war.

I can't wait for the day when US soldiers are no longer in harms way in Iraq.

John A   July 6th, 2009 12:11 pm ET

Barry first you should appreciate that my last blog had no mention of the name Israel, however your persist to write nonsense.

Secondly the comments of people who care about Iran will be more interesting than the perpetual comments made by those who hate the country. But as mentioned before your are free to live in your deluded world.

John A   July 6th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

John A,

The subject of the blog Is IRAQ !!!!!!

Not IRAN !!!!!!

Positive comments will be posted when positive results are achieved !

So far, there appears to be no positive results or headlines in regards to Iraq and their recently found freedom from US military occupation.

Just check the headlines and see for yourself !!!

June was the deadliest month for Iraqi civilians this year-next deadliest month was May!

Do you see a pattern there????

Barry   July 7th, 2009 4:57 am ET

All that nonsense was posted under your name. Are you saying that you didn't post it, you don't remember posting it, or you are just lying about posting it?

G.   July 7th, 2009 11:47 am ET

I've never been to the ME though I've wanted to go. Had friends from there who live here now. I am so glad to see our people leave, especially the females. I can't imagine wearing hot forced clothes or not driving my car whenever to where ever. My husband would hate it too. He likes me to pull my weight in this house. I try. Women are not stupid. I feel sorry for some women in some parts of the world. That bugs me. The poor women in Iran are struggling. I find that abhorent, in general. So, I probably won't visit the ME. Australia was fun.

CS   July 7th, 2009 11:47 am ET

The truth is, that most of these people in here hate Muslim people. Bottom line. They will stop at nothing to bring up negative things, even when all the headlines are saying what a good day it is for Iraqis, and how they made a national holiday out of it and so-on. If a few Muslims (perspective to overall numbers) do bad things, than all Muslims must be bad. What about those who cheer for the U.S. withdraw because they want to reconstruct their country. And as for those who hate the U.S. and invaders of their country.. there is no doubt that they use any means (even killing many of their own to get to a few of their enemies, which is evil, and stupid), but if the U.S. and other countries never attacked them, and invaded their country...FOR NO REASON, then they would have no cause for conflict, and violence would be substantially less.

I guess when Christians or Jews committ horrible crimes, they are just what they are, isolated incidents. But when a Muslim does something crazy, than he/she speaks for the whole religion, worldwide.

CS   July 7th, 2009 11:57 am ET

I guess all Catholics (Portuguese included) are evil because of those Catholics who are corrupt, and molest children do such things. Christians must all be adulterers too, since a Swaggart, and other evangelicals have made such bad choices. Christians/Jews are responsible for more death, destruction, counterproduction, than any other groups in the history of the world. Mostly because of territorial, and religious beliefs. But that's ok. They're God's chosen people so they get a pass, right. He does'nt mind when they use his name for their own cause, and then do wicked things instead. As long as they're Christians/Jews, it's ok. Only Muslims should be hel to the letter of the law, right?

A.B.   July 7th, 2009 3:02 pm ET

CS,
I do agree with you that most people in our country hate Muslims. They think that all Muslims are terrorists and that their religion teaches that to kill others. This is not true. People shoud undrestand that there are extrimists and they are the ones who kill but it does not mean that all muslims are like that.
I am happy that American troops are out of Iraqi towns and cities. We should have never been there on the first place.

CS   July 7th, 2009 3:06 pm ET

Miriam. If Israelis care so much about all people, than why do they build settlements in the West Bank? Why do their govt officials condone this? Do you not think that Palestine should have it's own homeland too?

As for Iraq; Israel showed her true compassion for Iraq, when they bombed Iraq for no reason. I'm American. I can admitt when my elected govt officials (even if I did'nt vote for them) do wrong. Can you do the same? Or will you continue to blatently deny things?

CS   July 7th, 2009 3:12 pm ET

And filipe asks where all those who say that Islam is a peaceful religion. This is proof that he obviously believes that because some do wrong, and claim to be righteous, that they are the spokesmen for the religion that they claim. How about all the horrible things that Christians do/have done in the name of God? Where are all the flag wavers that say that Christianity is a peaceful religion? All the child molesters, and theives, and adulterers, and abortion clinic bombers, and murderers, and imbezzlers and thus and so, I guess they're the spokemen for Christianity/Catholacism, no? YOU'RE THE ONE WHO'S ALWAYS WHINING ABOUT THE LAW APPLYING TO EVERYBODY!!!! IDIOT!

G.   July 7th, 2009 3:49 pm ET

How can a story about Iraq and U.S. troops leaving turn into something about Israel? They are on the same continent, but if there were a story on here about Mexico, it wouldn't be about Canada. People get off track. I am US troops are leaving Iraq. I think people in the ME will learn to respect and get along with each other equallly, male, female, whatever country, and need to be left alone to go there.

Filipe   July 7th, 2009 7:58 pm ET

CS,

This blog is about Iraq. It's not about Jimmy Swaggart or his Bible thumping moronic followers. But even they have never preached hatred, death and destruction to nonbelievers-as is commonly found in today's teachings of Islam by the highest ranking members of their religion-it comes straight from the top--to all of the followers-I'm sure you've heard the latest rants and calls for execution of the protesters in Iran.

You can't justify what is being taught daily to the Muslim followers in the world by citing of examples of Christian behavior which occurred in the Dark Ages!!! So lets not make this situation in Iraq be swept under the rug by throwing Christians and Jews into the discussion.

The subject is Iraq-and their so called independence- Which has so far come be in midst of the deadliest month so far this year for Iraqi civilians- June--and the second deadliest month this year for Iraqi civilians- May !!!

Do you see a pattern there????

Is that something to celebrate?????

We're talking about teaching violence, hatred and murder in the name of Islam in today's' modern society-– please explain how you justify this! Also, please explain why you fell it's mot appropriate for anyone to point this out on the blog and ask the question.

SO-- are you simply pi**ed off because I expect everyone to treated equally under the law???

And where did you ever get the idea that I follow Christianity, Catholicism. or any other structured religion???? Is this something you made up in your simple little mind?? It must be--you've never heard it from me--ever !!!!!

But CS-- why is it you think I should not ask the question to all those who read the blog--" where all those who say that Islam is a peaceful religion" ?

Seems like a perfectly acceptable request to me !!!!

But I fail to see ANYONE speak up ant try to explain the mass murders via suicide bombings, beheading and public executions that are occurring daily within the Islamic communities-– in the name of Islam!!!

You can try to explain it CS-- but ranting and raving about the Christians and Jews fails to explain it !!

G.   July 8th, 2009 1:36 am ET

I don't hate anyone. I resent that comment about "people in here." I'm watching TV in my living room. If, this minute, you asked me who I hate, I'd have to think hard because the only person even close might be Bin Laden who blew down two buildings and I feel bad for the janitors mostly. I worry about their children because they probably didn't have a lot of money. I don't hate Muslims. That's just ridiculous. I was always taught to like and love everyone. Gay people seem different to me, but I certainly don't hate them. I equate hate with evil and love with God. That's always tough, and I limp along, but I really can't hate. That is very ugly stuff. Damaging to the soul in general I figure. Men must be better at it then women. They seem to hate a lot. I see most men as young boys learning and growing up because I've raised sons. I hope for sweetness but that doesn't always happen.

miriam   July 8th, 2009 8:46 am ET

CS,

The only time in history when Jewish settlement was prohibited in the West Bank was under the Jordanian occupation, between 1948 and 1967, which resulted from an armed invasion. The area was ethnically cleansed of Jews and it was declared that sale of land to Jews was a capital offence.
It is untenable that this outrage could invalidate the right of Jews to establish homes in these area and therefore, the legal titles to land that had already been acquired remain valid to this day.

Israeli settlements in the West Bank are legal both under international law and the agreements between Israel and the Palestinians. Claims to the contrary are attempts to distort the law for political purposes.

There was no legal sovereign in the West Bank (or Gaza) prior to the 1967 war and therefore the territory cannot be considered "occupied". Therefore all the requirements associated with "occupation" are not applicable, despite the fact that Israel voluntarily upholds them.

Israel's use of lands for settlements conforms to all rules and norms of international law. Any aggrieved inhabitant of the West Bank can appeal directly to the High Court.

Outposts that do not conform to the rules are considered illegal under Israeli law.

In 1981, Israel bombed the Osirak nuclear reactor. This was not bombing Iraq "for no reason".

Israel chose to bomb the reactor just before it was loaded with nuclear fuel, and at a time when least people would be working there, in order to minimize casualties.

During the first Gulf War, Iraq fired missiles into Israel, unprovoked and without retaliation. If Israel had not destroyed the Iraqi nuclear weapons programme in 1981, one can only assume what type of missiles would have been fired at Israel and the US coalition forces during that war.

CS   July 8th, 2009 10:31 am ET

Filipe. When you explain the mass murders via invading other countries, and killing it's people for no reason, maybe you'll have your explanation. If someone invaded my country, and tried to make me change my countries policies from without, and use excuses and lies to be there, when everybody knows that the war was waged over my countries natural resources..if they destroyed my buildings and streets, leveled infrastructure, and a fragile economy, made my money worth nothing, kicked down my doors and spoke some language I don't understand, and separated my daughters, mother, and wife onto one side of the room, and put me and my sons on the other, and violently interrogated us, while destroying our home, I'd be a newly motivated soldier too. Some of these people have walked a pretty staight line, and did not deserve to be treated like this. They did nothing to deserve losing family members to some bogus war that has done nothing but create more terrorists. If someone did these things to you, I imagine the spineless way you moan and whine and sniffle...it would be accurate to say that you would say 'thank you sir, may I have another', am I right? I mean how can you deny that you would welcome troops invading your country after you condemn these folks who have done nothing wrong? No 9/11 attack. No WMD's. No harboring Taliban. Why WOULD'NT they hate the U.S., Britain, Israel, and all those who had a part in this? Just like other Muslim nations in the past, they were dragged into something that they had no part in, and now suffer because of it. But smart guys like you seem to think they hae no cause for emotion, and action against their occupiers. Explain what you would do, carlos. Tell us what you would do if your hometown was invaded, and all the aforementioned terrible things happened to you. What...would you trot respectfully down the war torn streets to your local govt official to make a complaint? HAHAHAHA!!!

CS   July 8th, 2009 10:44 am ET

G. What are you babbling about? Bin Laden. You see, this is what I mean about racist, hate filled people. They can't even see that they are what they are. Ironic. What does Bin Laden have to do with Iraq? Is it because he's a brown skinned muslim? I've seen you make comments in here that Gazans are getting what they deserve because they elected Hamas. How ignorant and thoughtless. There are a lot of variables. What If Hamas cheated? What about those innocents who did not vote for them, do they deserve the white phosphorus treatment too?

Danny   July 8th, 2009 3:45 pm ET

WHY are our boys & girls dying everyday in Iraq!? Those people have done nothing but kill each other since Jesus walked on this earth! When oil prices grow higher & higher, does that country give us a break – NO, NOT ONCE. Now they are dancing in the streets because our troops are pulling out. LET THEM DANCE, but when the Taliban or some other terrorist group steps in, DON'T SEND OUR TROOPS BACK IN. Our soldiers are being killed here in the U.S. by Muslim converts, bombs parts are being smuggled into federal buildings (thnk goodness it was just a test), and more Muslim synagogues are being built HERE in America. Even in the Bible, it says that charity begins at home! Bring our troops home, protect America, and kick out anybody that is not trying to become a U.S. citizen! I am a Disabled (Native) American Veteran, and I will never forgive our gov't for starting another VietNam-type war.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Filipe   July 8th, 2009 7:54 pm ET

CS,

What are you babbling about ???

What does any of your ranting and raving have to do with Iraqis killing other Iraqis via suicide bombings, beheadings, mass murders and extra judicial executions?

I can't explain any of it-- why do you ask me to explain it???

It certainly doesn't have anything to with any foreign invaders !!!!

They're killing each other-–Muslims killing Muslims !!!!

My only question was -–"Where are all the “Islam is a peaceful religion” flag wavers ???

Hoping for a good explanation-but all I got was you-– a clueless lunatic who tries to make it out to be about something other than what it really is!

In case you're not aware-- Muslims are not a "race" -- so your accusations about people opposed to terrorists who happen to be followers of Islam--as being "racist"- is nothing more than another example of your ignorance!

Must be that African American mentality-– assuming that anyone who dislikes someone for any particular reason puts them in the "racist" category.

Get over it-- your ignorance is truly annoying !

Filipe   July 8th, 2009 10:33 pm ET

CS,

To answer your ranting nonsense--- "Tell us what you would do if your hometown was invaded, and all the aforementioned terrible things happened to you."

1) I certainly would not strap on a C4 vest and blow myself up in the middle of the market amongst all of my neighbors !

2) I certainly would not search out my neighbors who fail to follow the same form of religion and line them up against a wall and execute them.

3) I certainly would not drive a vehicle packed with explosives onto the center of town an detonate it among my neighbors and friends.

You just don't get it do you---these people are killing each other-–Iraqis killing Iraqis-– they're not targeting the US, UK or coalition forces--they're killing each other !!!! And your trying to blame this on the coalition forces????

This has nothing to do with any foreign power being in their country-it's Muslims killing Muslims for not following the "correct" form of Islam!! They're not targeting any foreign forces !

Give it break !!!!

Barry   July 9th, 2009 2:19 am ET

CS -

Your ignorance never ceases to amaze. You see racism everywhere, especially where it doesn't exist. You call people haters who don't express hateful comments. The fact that most people don't agree with your ridiculous posts does not make them all haters and racists! I don't see anything remotely racist or hateful in G's post. You seem to be the only one who brings up skin color here. Does that make YOU the racist? You are certainly obsessed with it. You must be feeling very inferior. Well, what can I say? You are, but not because of your skin color. It is not the color of your skin, it is the content of your character.

If I remember correctly, Hamas won by about 87% of the vote. The vote was basically between two different Islamic terrorist organizations, Hamas and Fatah. They both want to kill Israelis; they just have some differences in their approach. So if 87% voted for Hamas and 13% voted for Fatah, that means virtually the entire voting population voted to elect Islamic terrorists to lead them in their quest to kill their neighbors. I think that they made their choice very, very clear. They do deserve to be held accountable for their choice. They selected evil by choice. Ignoring that fact is the real ignorance here.

Do you think Islamic terrorists care about the race of the people they murder, maim, and blow up every day? Do you think they cared about the races of the thousands of people that were killed in the 9/11 attacks? You really need to get over the race thing. The Islamic terrorists seem to be equal opportunity murderers.

It is not about race; it is about religion.

Filipe   July 9th, 2009 7:23 am ET

CS,

Two more suicide bombings in Iraq today kills at least 40 and wounds another 60 Iraqi civilians !!!!

Two more "celebrations" of the leaving of the coalition forces??

Please try one more time to explain your concept to us-- how is this related their hate for the US, UK and coalition forces???

Also please explain how my criticism of these acts makes me a racist!!!!

Deon   July 9th, 2009 8:47 am ET

If the Iraqi's are anti-american, why do they show it by killing they own people. It just does make sence. Surely, they must be other, more peaceful and humane ways of protesting. These are innocent people dying in the name of anti-americanism...

Filipe   July 9th, 2009 12:13 pm ET

Deon,

True-- but this is apparently what CS would like us all to believe--he seems to believe it.

Yes-They hate Americans and westerners-- so they kill each other by the hundreds to prove it !!!

Right !!!

Itai   July 9th, 2009 3:24 pm ET

Filipe   July 9th, 2009 8:14 pm ET

Itai,

So now since the Iraqis are free-– they can kill each other??

That's nice--where did they learn that?

Who taught them that significant feature of civilized society ??

I guess freedom means different things to different people-I just never met anyone who told me that it meant they are free to each other !!!

Have at it there Itai--- embrace your new found freedom to the best of your ability. Maybe you'll make the news someday!

G.   July 10th, 2009 6:31 am ET

In my country, the racist thing is a subtle joke. My kids have kids over. From everywhere and every religion. I like it. They joke around about it. They love each other. I see it. There are some that just can't go there though, but they come over some and try. I feel sorry for them. I encourage them just to hang out and do or feel whatever they want. I don't push people. Being Southern Baptist, I feel a little guilty for not demanding any certain country or religious belief, but I just can't. If God is great and loves a lot, and I love a jot, then he must love must them all more than I can ever. That's how I see God. Better than me. I have rules. I guess he has more. That's the big difference I guess. I just find rules hard. I know they are needed and I know that I watched both my parents pass on, but I don't like those things. I would like God to make everything perfect, but it's not like that at all. I personally don't care who rules what country as long as they are nice and sweet to their own people. Most aren't sadly.

G.   July 10th, 2009 6:34 am ET

Itai – That is my great comfort. History will judge. At the end, we will each judge just ourself. There is no escaping that part. I've been there once, when my second child was born. I lost too much blood.

G.   July 10th, 2009 6:43 am ET

Happily or sadly, depending on your point of view, most people in the USA work so much that they don't really give a crap what anyone else does. We work till we're tired. Anyone who goofs off, well they are goofs. That's why we have a government. They get to rest more and represent us. there are a lot of mess ups, but we speak out a lot in ways. We're pretty basic people. Most of us are thrilled that we are becoming more equal to humans and recognizing humanity and getting over the ignorance or prejudice. I think other countries will have a hard time doind the same. That is up to them and their final moment though.

G.   July 10th, 2009 6:50 am ET

My computer is lagging big time. Our router is messing up, and I'm out of patience with it. It takes forever to post anything ten times trying – probably have a problem. Peace all. My son said lightening hit it. Whatever. – eye roll -

Filipe   July 11th, 2009 3:38 pm ET

CS,

More examples of Muslims killing Muslims in Iraq !!

Please explain to us--Why do you believe that the US and western forces are to blame for this???

Please help us understand this !!!

None of these incidents were directed toward any westerners !!

http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2009/07/20097954018263803.html

At least 50 people have been killed in Iraq in what is being described as the bloodiest day in the country since US troops pulled back from cities and towns.

Two suicide bombers struck the northern town of Tal Afar, killing at least 34 people, while in Baghdad, the capital, at least seven people died when two bombs hidden in market rubbish went off.

In the evening, a further nine people were killed in a blast in the Kasra district of the capital.

The number of people wounded in Thursday's attacks exceeds 125.

The four weeks leading up to the US withdrawal witnessed the highest death toll in 11 months, according to official figures.

A total of 437 people, including 372 civilians, were killed in June, according to the figures compiled by government ministries.

Barry   July 11th, 2009 11:47 pm ET

This is how Muslims celebrate.

Filipe   July 12th, 2009 4:40 pm ET

More Iraqi celebrations !!!!!

http://edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/meast/07/12/iraq.violence/index.html

Four Baghdad churches were bombed in less than 24 hours and eight civilians were wounded, officials said Sunday.

Family members of Rizko Aziz Nissan grieve before his funeral in Kirkuk, Iraq, on Sunday.

Three bombs exploded outside churches Sunday afternoon, wounding the civilians, an Interior Ministry official said. The bombs detonated within a 15-minute span, between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m.

Many of Iraq's estimated 1 million Christians have fled the country after targeted attacks by extremists. In October, more than a thousand Iraqi families fled the northern city of Mosul after they were reportedly frightened by a series of killings and threats by Muslim extremists, who apparently ordered them to convert to Islam or face possible death. At least 14 Christians were killed in Mosul in the first two weeks of October.

****************************************

More celebrations to follow !!!!!!

Let's hear from the "Islam is a peaceful religion" flag wavers !!!!!

What's up with this ???? " Convert to Islam or face death" ????

jack wolf   August 2nd, 2009 1:14 am ET

Wow for the people that said do not talk about Israel/Palestine because it is unrelated. Are you serious? All violence in the middle east finds it's way back to that conflict. The only reason the United States is at war with Iraq is because Israel likes to decapitate Islamic powers in the middle east. Look what they are trying to do to Iran now. Only Israel can have nukes? What kind of ridiculousness is that? Iran has crazy leaders? Look at who the hell is in charge of Israel my God!

Iraqi was is not for oil! It would be cheaper to just buy the stuff my God. It is for Israel.
