The 9.1-9.3 earthquake that sparked the catastrophic Asian tsunami last December was so powerful that it shook the whole Earth. A new paper published in this week's journal "Science" finds that the ruthless quake caused the entire planet to vibrate like a ringing bell.
The animation shows the wave field set off by the quake race around the globe -- which took about three hours. The yellow dots on the map indicate global seismic stations.
