Bionic tongue
Researchers at the University of Lübeck in Germany have constructed a bionic tongue, to replace those lost to cancer or in accidents. The tongue, tested on pigs, was reconstructed from throat muscles and linked to a pacemaker-like device that transmits impulses from the hypoglossus nerve to the muscle.
