Ukrainian President rejects EU trade deal

Opposition supporters shout slogans as they attend a pro-European movement rally in Independence Square in central Kiev on November 29, 2013. Ukrainian authorities on November 29 deployed hundreds of riot police to central Kiev where thousands of protesters gathered after President Viktor Yanukovych failed to salvage a key deal with the European Union. Earlier in the day, thousands of Ukrainians locked hands in a symbolic chain linking their ex-Soviet country to the European Union.
