(InStyle) -- The event: The launch of Britney Spears's Southern-style restaurant Nyla, a name fashioned from the abbreviations of New York and her home state of Louisiana, at the Dylan Hotel on Manhattan's east side.

THE GUEST LIST

Spears, accompanied by her father Jamie and brother Bryan, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Deborah Gibson, David Copperfield, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, pop group LMNT, Donald Trump and model Melania Knauss, singer Samantha Cole, Tina Louise, MTV's Suchin Pak and Brian McFayden with girlfriend Nicky Hilton, and many more.

THE SETTING

Heavy rains soaked the city but didn't dampen the spirits of the VIP guests who braved the storm for the exclusive bash. "The rain just makes me even more hungry," said former teen pop star Deborah Gibson.

Inside, guests mingled among chiffon adorned ceilings and brightly colored pink, orange and green lit walls while nibbling on bite-size pieces of fried chicken and crab cakes.

Spears's own design touches included the white candles placed in the fireplaces and the mother-of-pearl bar tops.

ABRACADABRA

Copperfield, who entered the party just minutes before the rain began to fall said, "I'm just waiting for people to start asking me to make the rain disappear."
