Armed militants torched another tanker caravan carrying fuel for U.S. and NATO troops in Pakistan’s volatile Balochistan province on Wednesday, a police official told CNN.
The three tanker trucks were on their way to Afghanistan to supply fuel to NATO forces, said Muhammad Khalid, the police official.
He added that two militants opened fire on the tankers in the Mach area of Bolan district.
The tankers caught fire after intense firing by the militants, he said.
Khalid said no one was hurt and the militants escaped. He said the tanker was heading toward neighboring Afghanistan.
Trucks for NATO routinely travel along this route to Afghanistan carrying supplies from the southern port city of Karachi through southwest Pakistan. They are frequently targeted by militants who capitalize on the disruption of supplies to NATO forces in Afghanistan.
This is the second attack in two days.
