A freelance journalist and filmmaker -- who is not named for his own security -- took the following photos in Homs between December 15 and 20. Here an armed member of the Free Syrian Army shows the Kalashnikov he took with him the day he deserted. All photos were taken with an iPhone 4S using the Hipstamatic app. CNN
