Libya’s acting interior minister survived an assassination attempt in Tripoli, state news agency LANA reported Wednesday.

Unidentified gunmen targeted Al-Siddiq Abdelkarim while he was on his way to work, damaging his car but causing no injuries, the agency said.

Abdelkarim is one of Libya’s deputy prime ministers in addition to being acting interior minister.

Earlier this month, gunmen shot dead Libya’s deputy industry minister in the first assassination of a transitional government official since dictator Moammar Gadhafi was ousted in the North African country’s 2011 uprising.
