(CNN)"Despite rumor, Death isn't cruel -- merely terribly, terribly good at his job," wrote Terry Pratchett in "Sourcery," his fifth "Discworld" novel, a comic fantasy series that satirizes the modern world and set the English author's legendary status.

Pratchett, who passed away from Alzheimer's Disease, will also be remembered for his efforts to raise awareness of the illness.
Within moments of the announcement, his fans were quick to share his most memorable quotes and inspirational extracts from his wealth of more than 70 books.
