Mother's day – It was a family affair this weekend at Dutch club Ajax. The Amsterdam club's fans were invited to camp pitch side overnight prior to the team's match against Cambuur Leeuwarden. And on Sunday the Ajax players walked out with their mothers instead of mascots to celebrate Mother's Day in the Netherlands.
Depay delight – Elsewhere in Holland, Memphis Depay scored a stunning free kick in his last home game for PSV before his move to Manchester United.
'Dear enemy' – Described by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho as a 'dear enemy', Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard is given a standing ovation by the English Premier League champions' fans on his last ever appearance at the London club's Stamford Bridge ground.
Captain fantastic – The Reds captain scored only his second ever goal against Chelsea to level the match and earn his side a 1-1 draw.
Laminated cards – But the conviviality only went so far -- and some Chelsea fans produced laminated cards mocking Gerrard for his slip in the reverse fixture last season that saw Liverpool allow Manchester City to win the Premier League title.
Aguero hat-trick – Sergio Aguero celebrates scoring a penalty to complete his hat-trick in his team's 6-0 thrashing of QPR.
That sinking feeling – Six goals are too much to bear for QPR goalkeeper Robert Green as his side are relegated from the Premier League.
Record breakers – Another abject performance from QPR saw them slump to their 15th away defeat of the campaign. Earlier in the season, QPR went on an 11-game losing streak away from home, a Premier League record.
Hoop nightmare – QPR fans look on as their relegation to the English Championship is confirmed.
Saviour – The Valencia goalkeeper is congratulated by his teammates as his save earned the visitors a valuable point as they continue to chase a Champions League place for next season.
Barca boost – Ronaldo's costly miss allowed Barcelona to take a four-point lead at the top of La Liga after their 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad.
Reina sees red – Bayern Munich's Pepe Reina is sent off after just 13 minutes in his side's 1-0 home defeat against Bundesliga rivals Augsburg. The German champions have now lost three games in a row and welcome Barcelona next looking to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit in their Champions League semi.
Bayern blues – Bastian Schweinsteiger consoles Reina as he makes his way off the pitch. It was only the third game the Spaniard had played in all season.
Augsburg ecstasy – Augsburg players celebrate Raul Bobadilla's winning goal in front of their traveling fans. Their win keeps them on track to book a place in next season's Europa League.
Plucky Parma – Cristobal Jorquera celebrates his stunning goal as already-relegated Parma drew 2-2 at home against Napoli.
Napoli frustrated – Tempers boiled over after the game as the draw meant Napoli remain three points behind Lazio in the race for the final Champions League spot.
Lazio lose it – Lucas Biglia remonstrates with referee Davide Massa after Mauricio's sending off in the first half in the game between Lazio and Inter Milan. Lazio would go on to finish the game with nine men after Federico Marchetti saw red in the second half.
Hernanes at the double – Inter Milan players mob Hernanes after his brace earned the team an important three points, keeping them in the hunt for a Europa League place.
Jumping for joy – Hernanes doesn't hold back from celebrating against his former club. The Brazilian said: "It was the saddest backflip of my career. I didn't want to upset or disrespect the Lazio fans" but he had to do it for Claudio Lotito -- Lazio's president -- who recently criticized Hernanes' form.
French Mediterranean derby – Andre Ayew celebrates drawing Marseille level in their Ligue 1 match against Monaco. Romain Alessandrini completed the comeback in the 87th minute to secure a first win in five matches for Marcelo Bielsa's side.
Marseille's Champions League chase – Bielsa shouts orders from his technical area during the win. His side had been in contention for the Ligue 1 title but four defeats in a row now means they are just hoping to secure a place in the Champions League next season.
