But Mourinho's Chelsea side was accused by opponents and media of playing a boring style of football. That mattered little to Mourinho, whose side cantered to its first league title since 2010.

Deadly Diego —
Diego Costa scored 20 Premier League goals in his debut season in English football. The Spain international joined the club from Atletico Madrid for $50 million where he won the La Liga title and reached the European Champions League final.

In the goals —
Costa was an integral part of the Chelsea side which won the Premier League title. He finished third in the list of top scorers behind Manchester City's Sergio Aguero and Tottenham's Harry Kane.
Chelsea have won three Premier League titles under Mourinho. The first came in 2005 with the club successfully retaining its trophy the following year. Chelsea will once again compete in the Champions League after losing out to Paris Saint-Germain in the first knockout phase last season.

Eden Hazard was one of the outstanding players in the Premier League last season. The Belgian was named Professional Footballers' Association player of the year as well as the Football Writer's player of the year -- an award voted for by the British media.
