CNN  —

You don’t need water to go windsurfing. Just head up to Mount Washington in New Hampshire.

Snow and hurricane force winds slapped the 6,288-foot-tall peak on Monday, with winds topping out at 109 miles per hour.

For context, winds there are usually 10-15 miles per hour.

A couple of weather observers from the Mount Washington Observatory stepped outside to ride the waves of air. And of course, they videotaped themselves and posted it on Facebook.

We’re glad they did because … wow!

So why is Mount Washington experiencing such crazy winds when spring is here and summer’s just around the corner? The elevation of the mountain means it’s much more susceptible to wacky weather.

And it’s more of the same today. Mount Washington will continue to see strong and dangerous winds, with 100 miles per hour gusts.
