Man killed by a passing train while leaning out of a train window

He suffered severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene

London CNN  —

A man in his 20s has died from a blow to the head while leaning out of a train window in London, transport police said.

British Transport Police said they believe the passenger, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was struck by a passing train while traveling from London’s Gatwick Airport.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Wandsworth Common Station on Sunday evening, but nothing could be done to save the man, police said.

BTP Inspector James Tyrrell quashed social media rumors that the man had been “decapitated.”

“We are aware of a number of reports on social media which say the man was decapitated, however this is not the case,” he said.

The death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are working to confirm the identity of the victim.
