    (CNN)An official Rio 2016 bus carrying journalists was hit by an object that shattered windows Tuesday night, leaving two people injured by flying glass.

    Passengers threw themselves to the floor after something hit the vehicle and blew out two windows. One US journalist later stated her belief that the bus came under fire from a handgun.
      Police say they believe the bus was hit by rocks, and are investigating the incident.
      According to a statement from the Rio police, the driver of the bus has spoken to authorities.
