BROOKS JACKSON

Brooks Jackson is a CNN senior correspondent based in the network's Washington, DC bureau. Appointed to that position in December 1993, he is currently covering the Republican Congress and the changing face of Washington. He joined the network in March of 1990.

Jackson was previously a CNN special assignment correspondent based in Washington. He recently covered the 1994 elections and the Clinton Health Care Plan. Jackson became well known for his "Ad Police" reports during the 1992 campaign season. These reports monitored candidates' advertising and financing strategies throughout the campaign.

Prior to joining CNN, he worked as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal based in Washington, DC from 1980-1990. From 1970-1980, Jackson spent ten years working as a reporter for the Associated Press in the nation's capital and from 1967-1970 he worked with AP in New York.

During his tenure with the AP, Jackson won the 1974 Raymond Clapper Award for his report on the "Milk Fund" scandal and the 1974 AP Managing Editors Award. In 1985, he won the Worth Bingham Award for his Wall Street Journal stories on 1984 campaign funding.

He is a graduate of Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism and also earned a master's degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University.
