April 29, 1970 Andre Kirk Agassi is born in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Mike and Elizabeth Agassi. He is the youngest of four children -- Rita, Philip and Tami.

1972-1973 Mike Agassi introduces his son to the world of tennis by taping a racket to Andre's hand. In the years to come, Andre will be coached intensively by his father at their Las Vegas home, which had a full-size tennis court.

1984 Mike Agassi enrolls his son in the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

1986 Agassi turns professional with the help of Bollettieri.
1988 Agassi is the No. 3 tennis player in the world, his highest ranking at that point.

1992 In a surprise win, Agassi defeats Goran Ivanisevic at Wimbledon, gaining his first Grand Slam title.
1993 Agassi and longtime coach Bollettieri end their professional relationship.
1993 Agassi begins dating actress Brooke Shields. The two meet after friend Lyndie Benson, wife of saxophone player Kenny G, introduces them.
1994 Agassi turns to fellow tennis player Brad Gilbert for coaching help.
1994 Agassi wins the U.S. Open after defeating Michael Stich in three sets.
1995 Agassi wins the Australian Open by defeating Pete Sampras in four sets.
1996 Agassi wins the Olympic gold medal for men's singles at the Atlanta Olympics.
April 19, 1997 Agassi and Shields marry in Carmel, California.
1997 Agassi sinks to the lowest point in his career, ranking No. 141.
April 1999 Agassi files for divorce from Shields.
June 1999 Agassi wins the French Open, the only Grand Slam title he has not yet claimed. He becomes the first male tennis player since Australian Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four Grand Slam events. Also during the summer of 1999, Agassi begins dating tennis pro Steffi Graf.
November 1999 Agassi completes his career revival by finishing the season in the No. 1 spot.
January 2000 Agassi wins the Australian Open.
August 2000 Agassi takes two months off from tennis and spends time with his family. His mother and sister Tami are both diagnosed with breast cancer.
2001 At 30, Agassi wins the Australian Open in January. The victory is his seventh career Grand Slam title. Agassi is ranked as the No. 1 male tennis player in spring 2001, according to the Association of Tennis Professionals.
