Frank Buckley

Frank Buckley is a Los Angeles-based national correspondent for CNN. Named to this position in January 2001, Buckley previously was a New York-based general assignment reporter.

During 2003's Operation Iraqi Freedom, Buckley reported from aboard USS Constellation, offering viewers the latest reports. He also often profiled pilots and other members of the aircraft carrier. In 2002, Buckley took CNN audiences on a rare behind-the-scenes look at current military aircraft being used in combat. Buckley underwent flight training on the newest squadron of F-18 Super Hornet fighters and B-52 Bombers on practice runs.

Additionally, he has covered a number of major stories, including Great Britain's handover of Hong Kong to China, the Oklahoma City bombing and the Atlanta Olympic Park bombing. He has won numerous awards, including an Emmy Award for his coverage of the Hong Kong handover, Associated Press' Reporter of the Year awards for California and Nevada, Golden Mike awards and the National Americanism in News Media Award.

Buckley returns to Los Angeles after once serving as a general assignment reporter for KCAL-TV in Los Angeles. Before joining KCAL-TV in 1992, Buckley spent three years as the weekend anchor/reporter at WXII-TV in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Buckley received a bachelor's degree in history and broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California.
