Criminal charge dropped against Bryant
A judge dismissed the sexual assault charge against Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant. Jury selection had just begun for the criminal trial, more than a year after Bryant was charged with the sexual assault of a 19-year-old woman at a Colorado hotel. Bryant, a married man with a baby daughter, acknowledged he had sex with the woman, but insisted it was consensual. In a statement, Bryant apologized to his accuser, but will still face a civil lawsuit filed by her.
