Deadly, bizarre bank robbery

According to FBI court documents, the homemade bomb locked to Wells consisted of two steel pipes, low explosive filler and an electric fusing system. The bomb contained store-bought Sunbeam kitchen timers. The device was rigged to explode if it was tampered with. It was attached to a metallic collar with a locking mechanism. The locking mechanism included keyed brass locks, gears and a spinning numeric combination lock.

The cane gun

According to FBI court documents, the barrel of the homemade shotgun-cane was made of pipe. Firing instructions were printed on the weapon. The gun was designed to fire a single shotgun round.
