Jon Adler is Vice President of Program Development for CNN Original Series, based in New York City.
Jon Adler is Vice President of Program Development for CNN Original Series, based in New York City. Adler leads the development team tasked with developing award-winning programming for the CNN Original Series banner. He is responsible for identifying innovative projects and for cultivating relationships within the creative community among production companies, filmmakers, and content creators.
Adler joined CNN in 2012 when the original programming group was conceptualized and helped launch its initial slate of programming. CNN Original Series now produces approximately ten series each year.
To date, Adler has worked on more than 30 Original Series, including the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown and the Emmy Award-winning United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell.
As Vice President of Program Development, Adler partners with producers to bring new projects to CNN, which he oversees from pitch to pilot to series launch. In addition to developing programming for CNN Original Series and HLN Original Series, Adler has also supervised the production of several programs including, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy; First Ladies; Colin Quinn: Red State Blue State; The History of Comedy, Chasing Life with Sanjay Gupta; and Christiane Amanpour: Sex and Love Around the World.
Adler also works with stakeholders across CNN, including Business Affairs, Publicity, Digital and Marketing, to successfully shepherd projects from start to finish.
Previously, Adler worked for Creative Artists Agency. He is a graduate of Tufts University, with a major in English Literature and a Minor in Mass Communications. He is also a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and the Producers Guild of America. Adler lives in Manhattan and was raised in Westport, Connecticut.
