De Vries has participated in coverage of some of the most urgent and memorable breaking news stories in the past decade, including the death of Osama bin Laden, the 2014 midterm elections and the Paris newspaper attacks.
A native New Jerseyan, de Vries is a graduate of Montclair State University, where he served two years as the editor-in-chief of the student-produced newspaper, The Montclarion.
